Sudden death for Junior Champ!
Tuesday 27th July
2009 Junior Club Champion Calum Marjoram birdied the 36th hole to take this year’s competition to a sudden-death play-off as he tied with Tommy Ashton on 159. Tommy prevailed at the 1st extra hole to win the Scorer Trophy as 2010 Junior Club Champion.
Nick Marnoch wins the Rylands Trophy for the best 36-hole nett score of 130. Cameron Taylor missed out after scoring equal best gross score of 77 in the morning as he ended the day 1 behind in the handicap and 2 behind in the championship.
On a day of impressive scoring 7 of the 10 players cut their handicaps. Nick Marnoch takes over the lead in the Aslett Trophy for the Junior with the best hole by hole nett score for 2010 on count-back from Ed Morgan.
Matt wins Oliver Trophy
Sunday 18th July
Matt Davey won his first Verulam junior competition, the Oliver Trophy with a score of 91-23=68. Nick Marnoch (94-22=72) and Ben Moore (106-28=78) were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Nick wins the July Medal with nett 72.
Ben Moore takes over the lead in the Aslett Trophy for the Junior with the best hole by hole nett score for 2010 on count-back from Ed Morgan.
Calum wins July Junior Stableford
Sunday 4th July
Calum Marjoram won the July Junior Stableford with 36 points. On a challenging day with strong wind and dry fairways Nick Marnoch (35 points) and Will Cutmore (33 points) were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Nick takes over the lead in the Day Trophy for the Junior with the best hole by hole stableford score for 2010.
Anthony wins McMillan Salver
Saturday 26th June
Another good day for Anthony Burch who won the McMillan Salver with a score of 88-22=66. Cameron Taylor (85-16=69) and Ben Moore (99-28=71) were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Ben wins the June Medal with nett 67 and is promoted to Junior Level 4 as his handicap is cut to 28.
Ed Morgan takes over the lead in the Aslett Trophy for the Junior with the best hole by hole nett score for 2010.
Anthony wins June Junior Stableford
Thursday 3rd June
Anthony Burch won the June Junior Stableford with a very impressive score of 44 points. Last month’s winner Ed Morgan (42 points) and Nick Marnoch (40 points) were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Ed maintains the lead in the Day Trophy for the Junior with the best hole by hole stableford score for 2010.
Cameron wins Sinnott Trophy
Saturday 22nd May
Cameron Taylor won the Sinnott Trophy with a score of 88-20=68. Tommy Ashton (81-11=70) and Nick Marnoch (99-24=75) were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Tommy wins the May Medal and also takes over the lead in the Aslett Trophy for the Junior with the best hole by hole nett score for 2010.
Ed wins May Junior Stableford
Sunday 9th May
Ed Morgan won the May Junior Stableford with a very impressive score of 44 points. Ben Moore (40 points) and Cameron Taylor (36 points) were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Ed also takes over the lead in the Day Trophy for the Junior with the best hole by hole stableford score for 2010.
Juniors top of the league!
Excellent win for the Junior Team over Harpenden at home on Sunday 2nd May (3 - 1). Big wins for Calum+Nick, Tommy+Cameron. Billy+Anthony sealed the overall win with victory on the 17th after a very tight match.
The Junior Team lost 1.5 - 2.5 in a tough match at Brickendon Grange on Sunday 18th April. Oli+Nick were the only pair to win; Tommy+EdM were never down but came away with a half.
Following a fine start to the season the Junior Team currently lie top of the East Herts League.
Juniors progress to Ver Quarter Final
Sunday 25th April
The Junior team defeated Dunstable Downs 5 - 2 at home on Sunday for an overall 9 - 5 victory and progress to the quarter-final of the Ver Shield. Next round opponents will be the winners of South Beds v Sandy Lodge.
Tommy wins Veal Salver / Calum wins Medal
Thursday 15th April
Tommy Ashton and Calum Marjoram continue their recent excellent performances, both shooting 76 gross. Tommy won the Veal Salver with a nett 62 and Calum won the April Junior Medal with a nett 64. Congratulations to Tom Bowskill, Sam Russell, Anthony Burch, Charlie Bowskill and Ross Williams who also cut their handicaps.
