On Saturday we were proud to welcome Thomas Bjorn and members of the European Tour to Verulam and show them round our club and all our history surrounding Samuel Ryder and the Ryder Cup. As this year's European Captain he was keen to find out as much history of the event as possible and spent time looking round and was also very receptive to spending time with members who were in the Club on Saturday evening.
This is also part of a drive between us and ex-Mayor Annie Brewster to drive tourism and golf into St. Albans, as he also visited the new museum, Samuel Ryder's seed house, Cafe Rouge and the Clarion Hotel.
To round of his visit he was interviewed by The European Tour talking very fondly about the history of the event and our club. A promotional video for Sky Sports & The European Tour website is being produced, of which we will be given a copy which we can use to assist with our marketing.
