Old Course Fourball Stableford
This competition was played on the 2 January 2010 and the early morning conditions made it difficult to stop a golf ball. The afternoon players had more favourable conditions although it was still very firm.

H Boycott Brown & S Wilson = 41 points (after card play off)
T Fabian & P Keen = 41 points (after card play 0ff)
G Eastwood & C Guilbert = 41 points
Another interesting point from this event which had 37 pairs taking part was that there were only 2 Two’s.
Verulam Junior Open 2009
68 juniors competed in this year’s Verulam Junior Open on Tuesday 27th October. Weather conditions were perfect however the course proved challenging with very few low scores. The worthy winners were:

1st Daniel Ellis-Banbury [Letchworth] 72
2nd Nick Ward [Redbourn] 74 (better last 9)
3rd Evan Omelia [West Herts] 74
Under-18 Handicap
1st Adam Thomas [Sandy Lodge] 74 - 10 = 64
2nd Ronan Lennon [Redbourn] 96 - 27 = 69
3rd Jamie Woor [Redbourn] 80 - 10 = 70 (better last 6)
Under-14 Handicap
1st Alex Williams [West Herts] 81 - 13 = 68
2nd Luke Hynes [Mill Hill] 97 - 28 = 69 (better last 9)
3rd Jack Mudd [Stevenage] 78 - 9 = 69 (better last hole)
Best placed Verulam juniors were:
- David Dobinson 5th equal in the scratch (77)
- Cameron Taylor and Ed Morgan 8th equal in the under-14 handicap (nett 71)
Cameron Taylor wins Thomson Trophy Matchplay
Cameron Taylor defeated Sam Russell in the final of this year’s Thomson Trophy Junior Matchplay. There were some very good matches played over the past 10 weeks. Well done to all 21 juniors who took part.
October Junior Stableford
Sunday 4th October
Ed Morgan won the final Junior Stableford of 2009 with 38 points and a better back 9 than Calum Marjoram. Will Cutmore was 3rd with 37 points.
September Junior Stableford
Cameron Taylor won his second Junior Stableford in a row with 42 points on Sunday 20th September. Once again scoring was excellent with Cailin Drinan and Charlie Bowskill both scoring 41 points.

Intersport Trophy & August Junior Medal
Saturday 22nd August
Ed Morgan was by far the best player on a day of high scoring and wins the Intersport Trophy. Nick Marnoch was the best of the rest and wins the August Junior Medal.
Aslett Trophy (Eclectic)
Ed Morgan wins this year with 51 nett, one ahead of Charlie Bowskill and Molly Doyle.
The Aslett Trophy is awarded to the Junior with the lowest eclectic score in the trophy competitions (medal rounds).
David and Andrew runners-up at Herts Junior Foursomes
David Dobinson and Andrew Marnoch were runners-up in the under-18 pairs at the Hertfordshire Golf Union Peggy Imogen de Podesta Junior Foursomes.
Thirty six pairs entered and the Verulam pair scored 74 stableford points over 36 holes (34 + 40), one point behind the winners, on Thursday 6th August at Welwyn Garden City Golf Club.
