Welcome to Verulam Golf Club where you can enjoy a wonderful course, clubhouse and facilities. As a member of Verulam Golf Club, we hope that you will enjoy the time you spend on the course and in the Clubhouse.
There are numerous internal Club competitions held throughout the year at weekends and during the week. These include individual medal and stableford formats where members can hone their handicaps. In addition, there are various pairs’ competitions, mixed events, 11hole competitions and team matches.
There is plenty of opportunity to play social golf. Informal ‘swindles’ meet up on a ‘turn up and make up’ basis at set times during the week. This is a great way to get to know more people as well as enjoying a round of golf on a less formal basis.
At Verulam, there is always something to suit your handicap, age and golfing desire – you will certainly not be short of playing opportunities to suit your availability. Here are just a few examples:
If there is no competition, members can join informal groups of players from early morning who make up 3 or 4 ball groups as appropriate. Tee times can be booked via the club App or website.
A friendly day at the club where members can book in advance or roll up to play. Some of our Boarded competitions are played on a Sunday. All tee times can be booked via the club App or website.
These are open to all members and are usually played on Saturdays. The ‘four-ball, better-ball’ matchplay format is a very sociable way to enjoy golf. Both home and away fixtures are included and team sheets are displayed regularly throughout the season.
The men’s Scratch Team is drawn from the best players in the club, typically those with handicaps of up to 5. The Team represents Verulam in the Hertfordshire Scratch League and matches are played at weekends, playing scratch singles followed by lunch.
Our Foxes have 10 home and 10 away matches each year teeing off in the afternoon and usually for 12 players per side. A dinner follows each match making Foxes matches a very sociable experience. To be a Fox handicap between 9 to 19ish is the requirement
The Senators play a total of 18 home and 18 away fixtures each season usually with an 8.15am start for 16 players per side. A lunch follows the game, enabling ample opportunity to discuss the ups and downs of the match.
This is just one of our regular informal groups that warmly welcome new members to come along. Members meet in the clubhouse from 8am onwards every Tuesday and Thursday morning. A draw is made at 8:30am by use of a pack of cards. An individual Stableford competition follows, off full club handicap. Groups of four also play a better-ball match play competition amongst themselves. A great way to meet and play with new people and enjoy the celebrations at the 19th hole.
